Wow Factor! Stovetop Baked Beans

Ingredients:

6 Italian sausages – (preferably 3 sweet and 3 hot) chopped
1 – 28 oz. can baked beans (seasoned with bacon and brown sugar)
1 – 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 Jalapeño – chopped with seeds
4 cloves garlic – chopped
1 healthy handful of Italian parsley
1 sweet onion – chopped
1 green bell pepper – chopped
½ cup stout beer
2 tablespoons honey
Olive oil for drizzling

Cook sausages and chop.

In a large frying pan heat a drizzle of olive oil and add the Jalapeño, garlic, onion and bell pepper. Sauté until the onion is clear. Add the sausages and toss. Add the parsley, tomatoes, baked beans and toss. Simmer for a minute and add the beer and the honey.

Simmer on low for 1 hour or longer, the longer the better.

Serve this dish as is or over rice.

These baked beans are sure to cause conversation at your table!

And to think today is the last day of Barbecue Month. Who am I kidding, BBQ season has just begun around here and these beans are worthy of the highest honors!!!

Thanks for sharing, Catherine...

P.S. I'm adding you to my Months side-bar so I drop in for more goodies more often:)

Catherine, This baked bean recipe sounds great! Lots of pop and substance (the sausage) as well... I'll leave out the bell peppers though. For me, their taste is overwhelming and I don't eat anything with bell peppers in it. Thanks for the recipe! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Catherine, this bean dish looks fantastic. What a nice, delicious change from the usual baked beans I always make from the can. Definitely trying this.

All you need to add is some Fresh bread and it looks like a complete meal. I think your addition of beer is very interesting.

Hi Catherine, thanks for stopping by my site earlier! These beans look delicious. I keep seeing recipes for baked beans - it's like someone's trying to encourage me, subconsciously, to give them a try myself! I think I'll schedule these in for dinner next week, thanks!
